Fourth Grade went sci-fi, this week, as Artificial Intelligence assisted Beta scholars with their English assignments. Three robots visited the class to help them refine their writing skills.
The scholars also honed their computer programming techniques as they learned about input-output and adding flair to their stories.
Angela Farris led the robotics class. She told the scholars on the first day, “I can’t wait to see the stories.” And the robots truly allowed the writers to “see” their stories. The children adjusted voice speeds, chose sound effects, and added motion commands to give their writing pizzazz. Cries like “This is awesome!” could be heard frequently in the room. After typing their stories into the laptops, Mickey the robot read the compositions out loud.
But it couldn’t be all work, and no play. Even robots take a break for a little dancing, every now and then.
